Terms of Service

1. About Gunaso

Gunaso is a civic platform for residents of Nepal. It has two core purposes:

1. Issue Reporting — Document, share, and track public issues such as road damage, garbage, broken infrastructure, flooding, or other community concerns so they can be addressed by relevant authorities or community members.
2. Lost & Found Documents — Report and search for lost government and official documents (citizenship cards, licenses, passports, transcripts, blue books, and others) to help connect documents with their rightful owners.

Gunaso is an independent community platform. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any government body, municipality, or political party.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Gunaso. By using the platform, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you should have parental or guardian consent.

3. Your Account

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
• You must not share your account with others or use another person's account without permission.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.

4. User Conduct

You agree to use Gunaso only for lawful purposes. You must not:

• Post false, misleading, fabricated, or deliberately exaggerated reports
• Upload content that is harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or harassing
• Impersonate any person, organisation, government body, or official
• Post spam, unsolicited advertisements, or off-topic content
• Collect or harvest personal data about other users through the platform
• Upload content that infringes on any third party's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
• Attempt to disrupt, hack, scrape, or reverse-engineer the platform or its infrastructure
• Submit false lost & found reports to fraudulently obtain someone else's documents

Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban at our sole discretion.

5. Content You Submit

By submitting issues, comments, images, or lost & found reports ("User Content"), you confirm that:

• You own the content or have the right to share it
• The content does not violate these terms or any applicable law

You grant Gunaso a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, display, and use your User Content solely to operate and improve the platform. You retain full ownership of your original content.

You must not submit content containing personal data of third parties — such as names, home addresses, phone numbers, or identifiable photos of individuals — without their explicit consent. An exception applies to lost & found reports where the document owner's name is necessary to facilitate return of the document.

6. Lost & Found Documents

The Lost & Found feature allows users to report documents they have found so owners can reclaim them. By using this feature:

• Reporters confirm that any document they report has genuinely been found and is currently in their custody or has been handed to a police station.
• Reporters must accurately record the current status: in-custody, handed to police, or resolved/returned.
• You must not use this feature to report documents you do not have, to falsely claim ownership of a document, or to solicit money in exchange for returning a document.
• Documents handed to police must be accurately recorded with the correct police station details.
• Resolved reports (document returned) are automatically archived after 7 days. Reports handed to police are archived after 30 days.

Gunaso is a connector platform only — we are not responsible for the return, custody, or condition of any document.

7. Accuracy of Reports

All reports on Gunaso are user-generated. Gunaso does not verify the accuracy, completeness, or legitimacy of any submitted report. Reports reflect the opinion or observation of the submitter.

Gunaso makes no guarantee that any reported civic issue will be reviewed, acknowledged, or resolved by any government authority, municipality, or other body.

8. Content Moderation

Gunaso reserves the right to review, hide, or delete any User Content that violates these terms, applicable law, or community standards. Moderation actions include:

• Hidden — Content removed from public view but retained for review purposes.
• Deleted — Content and associated data permanently removed.

Users may report content they believe violates these terms using the in-app reporting tools. Accounts that repeatedly violate these terms will be suspended or permanently banned.

9. Blocking and User Safety

You may block other users to prevent them from interacting with you on the platform. Blocking is not a moderation action — blocked users may still see your public content. To report abusive behavior, use the report function within the app.

10. Privacy

Your use of Gunaso is governed by our Privacy Policy. We collect only the data necessary to operate the service and never sell your personal information to third parties.

11. Intellectual Property

All platform content, design, branding, and code — excluding User Content — is owned by Gunaso and protected by applicable intellectual property law. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written permission.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

Gunaso is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:

• The service will be uninterrupted, timely, or error-free
• Reports or information on the platform are accurate or reliable
• The platform is free from viruses or other harmful components
• Any lost document reported on the platform will be successfully returned to its owner

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Gunaso, its founders, employees, and contributors shall not be liable for any:

• Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
• Loss of data, revenue, or goodwill
• Damages arising from reliance on user-submitted reports or lost & found listings
• Failure to return, loss, or damage of any document reported through the platform

14. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Gunaso at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these terms or engaged in conduct harmful to the community.

You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and removes all your submitted content.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you within the app and ask you to review and re-accept the updated terms. Continued use after acceptance constitutes agreement to the updated terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Nepal. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nepal.
